Bob Thomsen, P.E.

Mr. Thomsen has over 29 years of career experience, 25 of which have been at GES, Inc. Currently a Principal Engineer at GES, Mr. Thomsen provides geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing and inspection services, environmental consulting, and project management for roadways, bridges, schools, libraries, utility facilities, land development projects, flood control improvements and erosion and grade control structures. His duties also include scoping and managing investigation programs, engineering analysis and report preparation, and technical review of reports and analyses. On a typical work day, he performs engineering calculations and analyses, evaluates field and laboratory geotechnical data, prepares site plans, exploration logs and geotechnical engineering reports. Mr. Thomsen has worked with some of the same clients since the beginning of his engineering career, which is a testament to his great project management and overall likeability. He is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer in Arizona and Nevada.

Martin Jensen, P.E.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University in Civil Engineering and completing the coursework for a master’s degree (completed in 2000) in Civil Engineering with a Geotechnical Engineering emphasis, Martin D. Jensen has been practicing Geotechnical Engineering since 1999. Martin has participated in a wide variety of projects including transportation, flood control, pipeline, high-rise, commercial, industrial, mining, and residential projects. Martin has been the Geotechnical and Environmental Department Manager for NOVA Geotechnical & Inspection Services since October 2013 and has been practicing in the Las Vegas Valley since 2000. Martin is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah.

Mr. Brian Kalina has more than 15 years of experience in construction and engineering responsibilities, 10 of which have been in the natural gas industry. Mr. Kalina has functioned as design engineer, project manager and supervising engineer for a variety of projects associated with natural gas distribution and transmission pipelines. He is currently a Technical Services Manager responsible for administering Southwest Gas Corporation's Southern Nevada Divisions operations and maintenance requirements associated with measurement and control, meter performance and large meter set installations, SCADA communications systems, cathodic protection systems, and the Davis Dam Compressor station to meet Federal (PHMSA) and State requirements. He is also the Company’s SNV Chair for college collaboration and outreach with the Southern Nevada School districts and colleges. He has a Master’s degree in Business Administration, a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and is licensed by the Nevada State Board of Engineers as a Civil Engineer. Brian has served as President and Director/Programming for the Southern Nevada NSPE chapter, and as the NSPE-NV National Delegate and Western Pacific Region representative.

Michael Ross, P.E.

Michael has more than 15 years in the natural gas industry. As an Engineer for Southwest Gas, Michael has worked on design and implementation on a wide variety of projects, including large and small diameter piping, measurement and control facilities, and large transfer stations. In addition, Michael worked for several years on an interstate pipeline project handling assisting with design and representing the company on environmental compliance to various state and federal agencies. Michael is currently a Supervisor of Compliance with Southwest Gas. Michael has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University and is a licensed Professional Engineer (ME) in Nevada.

Christian is a Distribution Engineer for Southwest Gas. He has worked on multiple capital projects throughout the company, such as the design and construction of interconnect sites, high pressure gas piping relocations, measurement and controls upgrades, and pipeline inspections. He earned both his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master of Business Administration from UNLV. Before working for Southwest Gas, Christian worked for NV Energy, where he managed major steam turbine overhauls, steam cycle component inspections, and piping and machinery improvement projects.
